
There it is: 400x80 pixels stored in an animated GIF. Alas, the LZW algorithm used in compressed gif images is protected by an U.S. patent. Since free image processing programs usually don't have gif support anymore it gave me some trouble generating an animated picture.
Fortunately there is libungif, which is free and generates uncompressed gif images. Unfortunately the files are... well, uncompressed and therefore rather big. Sorry about this.

In July 2002 Forgent Networks declared that by taking over of Compression Labs Inc. it now ownes the U.S. Patent No. 4,698,672 as well. This patent describes a compression technology used in the JPEG and MPEG standards. So far this patent has not been used as base for licensing fees. Today JPEG and MPEG have become popular image and video standards. Forgent Networks now starts to claim licensing fees for programs implementing this technology.
